    Nautic Stellar Press Release

Jomo Audio unveiled its new product, Nautic Stellar, at the 2025 Hong Kong HK AV Show. 2025 is an extraordinary year for Jomo Audio as it marks the 10th anniversary of the brands establishment. Looking back to 2015, which coincided with Singapores SG50 (1965-2015) celebration, Jomo Audio was founded in the bomb shelter of its founder Josephs home. Driven by an immense passion for headphone technology and music, the brand has consistently persisted in research and innovation. Starting as a home-developed local brand in Singapore, it has gradually stepped onto the global stage and secured a prominent position in the international headphone industry. Over the past decade, Jomo Audio has remained diligent and continuously innovative, launching a series of timeless classic headphone products that have repeatedly won high praise from numerous audiophiles. This recognition has become a driving force propelling the team forward on the journey of self-realization and breakthrough.

The new Nautic Stellar represents the culmination of Jomo Audios past acoustic designs and product aesthetics. The brand has integrated experiences from previous tuning schemes and first-hand feedback on different tuning styles collected from countless headphone exhibitions. By repeatedly integrating, digesting, and expanding this valuable information, Jomo Audio has opened a new chapter while continuing its legacy of classics and pursuing innovative breakthroughs, bringing a fresh experience to audiophiles worldwide.

Nautic Stellar is the third installment in Jomo Audios Marine Series. Following the seriesdebut product Nautilus and the subsequent Nautic Gleam, it has become a key highlight and flagship model of the series, achieving comprehensive enhancements and breakthroughs in both acoustic performance and product aesthetic design.

The products exterior design continues the narrative thread of the Marine Series: from Nautilus, which embodies the wonder and vastness of the underwater world through the submarine in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea; to Nautic Gleam, where a lighthouse illuminates the forward route in the dark night; and now to Nautic StellarCaptain Nemo stands on the bow under the starry sky, holding a sextant, with the stars in the night sky guiding the course to stay on track. As the captain looks up at the countless stars and the Milky Way, he is instantly struck by the vastness of the world and the universe, realizing that there are still countless unknowns waiting for humanity to learn, explore, challenge, and gain from.

    Exterior Design

Nautic Stellar inherits the classic shell design from Nautilus. Compact yet substantial, it strikes a perfect balance between volume and weight. Compared to traditional curved universal-mold headphones, its design can fit a wider range of ear canal shapes, delivering an almost discomfort-free wearing experience.

    Stainless Steel Headphone Shell

In terms of shell materials, Jomo Audio has made a bold breakthrough: unlike previous products that used titanium alloy, aerospace aluminum alloy, brass, stabilized wood, as well as traditional mold-in resin and 3D-printed resin, Nautic Stellar adopts high-grade 904L stainless steel as the base material for its headphone shell. Through high-precision 5-axis CNC machining, both the interior and exterior of the headphone shell reach an extremely refined standard. Every edgewhether the visible external edges or the hidden internal edgesundergoes chamfering, demonstrating a further upgrade in the brands craftsmanship requirements for headphone shells.

The surface of the headphones undergoes paired manual fine polishing. While this process consumes significant labor, it results in an almost imperceptible joint gap between the top and bottom shells. On this basis, the entire headphone is further treated with vacuum coating for a protective layer, significantly enhancing surface hardness, effectively reducing the risk of scratches on the mirror finish, and maximizing the time the headphones maintain their brand-new condition.

    Panel Design

The headphone panel features Jomo Audios classic multi-layer hollow design: a star pattern runs through the four sides of the panel, symbolizing guidance for the way forward; a sextant pattern signifies measuring the night sky to avoid getting lost.

    Guilloché Panel

Jomo Audio has for the first time introduced the intricate watchmaking craft—Guilloché—into headphone design and production. Originating from the European watch industry, this top-tier metal engraving technique centers on precise geometric patterns and delicate metallic luster, serving as a hallmark of craftsmanship and aesthetic pursuit in high-end watchmaking.

The processing logic of Guilloché is completely opposite to that of CNC: CNC relies on a high-speed rotating hard cutter to cut metal, while Guilloché requires craftsmen to manually operate a specialized lathe. Using a 140° angle cutter with 0.1mm precision, the craftsman moves along a straight line, cutting slowly according to the design drawing. Each line corresponds to one precise cutting pass, creating regular patterns (such as sunburst or wave patterns) on the metal surface with a depth of only 0.1-0.3mm (the groove depth on the Nautic Stellar panel is 0.15mm). This process takes several hours to complete. The resulting dense linear patterns, enhanced by the subsequent rose gold plating, refract rich layered metallic luster through multiple facets, elevating the already complex craftsmanship to the pinnacle of luxury. This vivid luster, created by hand engraving and precious metal plating, is an irreplaceable unique charm that cannot be replicated by laser, CNC, or mold stamping.

Due to the extremely high requirements of Guilloché for materials, tool precision, and craftsmen’s skills, craftsmen mastering top-tier Guilloché techniques need to accumulate over 10,000 hours of work experience to fully master this craft. Therefore, it is mostly applied to limited-edition watches, becoming a symbol of “handmade value” and “micro-aesthetics” in high-end watchmaking.

    Acoustic Framework

In terms of acoustic configuration, Nautic Stellar adopts a luxurious 8-unit, 5-way crossover scheme: 1 new silk bio-diaphragm dynamic driver for low frequencies, 2 sets of 4 high-precision balanced armature driver units, 1 6mm nano planar super high-frequency unit, and 2 Sonion bone conduction units. Through a newly designed 5-way crossover circuit, the 8 units accurately distribute sounds of different frequency bands to the corresponding units, thereby achieving high-fidelity, high-clarity, and low-distortion high-quality music playback.

    Silk Bio-Diaphragm Dynamic Driver

The 10mm silk bio-diaphragm dynamic unit equipped in Nautic Stellar has achieved an unprecedented technical breakthrough in low-frequency performance. This unit uses a bio-composite diaphragm made of natural silk fibers. Compared with traditional PET diaphragms, its density is only 60% of the latter, while it possesses higher toughness and internal damping. Benefiting from these physical properties, the silk diaphragm exhibits more agile and rapid transient response in the low-frequency range, accurately reproducing the explosive power of drumbeats and the elastic texture of bass. Moreover, it eliminates the digital feelcommonly found in synthetic materials in terms of sound performance, making the low frequencies closer to the natural warmth of real musical instruments.

Compared with titanium alloy and other metal diaphragms, the non-colorationand smooth listening experience of the silk diaphragm are also major advantages. Its natural damping structure effectively suppresses the harsh sound coloration caused by high-frequency resonance, ensuring that even during large dynamic output, the low frequencies remain pure, full, and well-layered. In addition, the silk diaphragm is inherently suitable for building a sound field with a strong sense of space and atmosphere, allowing Nautic Stellar to deliver a natural low-frequency envelopment similar to that of two-channel speakers.

However, this breakthrough material also imposes higher requirements on the manufacturing process. Each silk diaphragm undergoes 72 hours of bio-activation treatment and nano-level composite shaping. The overall manufacturing cost is more than three times that of PET diaphragms, and its stability in high-humidity environments is slightly lower than that of metal diaphragms. To address this, Nautic Stellar specially adds a polymer moisture-proof coating during the unit packaging stage to ensure a dual balance between sound performance and service life.

Through this material innovation, Nautic Stellar delivers low-frequency performance that combines power and elegance, making listeners feel as if they are in the middle of the ocean, experiencing the sound energy and soft resonance from the deep sea, and demonstrating the ultimate integration of natural sound quality and technical craftsmanship.

Upgraded Tuning of Sonion Bone Conduction Driver

In the acoustic structure of Nautic Stellar, Jomo Audio has continued its exploration of bone conduction technology from the Nautilus series and achieved a far-reaching upgrade based on the original design. This time, the brand has completely redesigned the drive circuit of the Sonion bone conduction unit, optimizing output impedance and power distribution, which significantly enhances its participation in the mid-frequency range.

The integration of the bone conduction unit is no longer a simple “functional addition.” In the frequency transition area between dynamic and balanced armature units, there are often “gaps” with energy attenuation or discontinuous sound pressure—especially in the transition of vocal overtones and high-frequency extension, which easily leads to gaps in listening experience. This re-tuned bone conduction driver perfectly fills this “gray area.”

It does not pursue a strong sense of presence but subtly makes the connection between mid and high frequencies more natural and smooth. The texture of vocal lines becomes more three-dimensional, and the details of dental sounds and lip sounds are no longer stiff but more elastic. You may not be able to tell which unit is producing the sound, but you can clearly feel the coherence of the overall sound and the integrity of the atmosphere, which becomes more “warm.”

Meticulously Tuned Balanced Armature and Nano Planar Diaphragm Driver Units

In the tuning of multi-unit architecture, Jomo Audio has always adhered to the principle of “making the best use of each component.” The mid-high frequency system of Nautic Stellar adopts a golden combination of two sets of 4 balanced armature units and one 6mm nano planar diaphragm unit. With units of different physical properties performing their respective roles, they work together to build a clear and wide frequency response curve.

The balanced armature unit responsible for mid-frequency output adopts an open back cavity design, allowing more air to circulate freely behind the diaphragm, thus making the mid-frequency sound more relaxed and natural. As a result, the human voice presents a granular density and undulation, with excellent dynamic elasticity and layering; it is neither overly prominent nor ever out of the focus of the sound field.

The balanced armature unit for mid-high frequency output adopts a closed design, which enhances the air elasticity inside the unit and the control of the diaphragm, improving the efficiency of high-frequency response. This configuration delivers more full and solid high-frequency energy, with rich details and clear outlines, especially in delicate sound parts such as piano overtones and string vibratos.

The super high-frequency range is handled by a custom 6mm nano planar diaphragm unit. This driver unit exhibits excellent efficiency, easily achieving sufficient frequency response coverage above 12kHz without relying on large drive circuits. The ultra-high frequency extension and sense of air it presents are far superior to traditional multi-electrostatic unit combinations. Its open, transparent, and non-harsh high frequencies make the entire sound field as if blown by a morning sea breeze—transparent and three-dimensional.

This triple-driver system, refined through repeated adjustments, integrates into a complete and unified timbre structure in Nautic Stellar, delivering a gorgeous mid-frequency performance, clean and transparent high-frequency extension, and a listening experience full of airiness and spatial sense. Whether listening to female vocals, string music, or high-resolution live recordings, you can feel its precise and emotional sound expressiveness.

Newly Designed Single-Crystal Copper + Gold-Silver Alloy Headphone Cable

The excellent expression of sound depends not only on the driver units but also on a stable and transparent “transmission bridge.” To this end, Nautic Stellar is equipped with an exclusive custom cable, whose core structure is based on a newly developed multi-material composite conductor system, achieving an excellent balance between sound resolution and musicality.

The cable core uses four strands of 21AWG high-purity OCC (Ohno Continuous Casting) single-crystal copper conductors as the main transmission path for sound signals and energy, providing a solid dynamic foundation and good electrical stability for the entire headphone system. With its high conductivity and low distortion characteristics, OCC single-crystal copper presents a natural, full, thick, and broad sense of energy in sound performance—especially when driving large dynamic scenes and low frequencies, it demonstrates excellent control and elasticity.

To further fine-tune the timbre, the Jomo Audio engineering team added gold-silver alloy wires with a precise ratio to the single-crystal copper conductors. This precious metal material not only improves the signal transmission efficiency of the cable in the high-frequency range but also softens the possible high-frequency harshness through its unique material damping properties, making the sound more transparent and mellow.

The ratio of gold to silver was not determined overnight. The team went through dozens of experimental formulas and conducted dozens of hours of repeated blind tests before finally determining a set of gold-silver alloy ratio formulas most suitable for Nautic Stellar. This formula not only retains the low-frequency thickness of copper wires but also enhances the high-frequency detail performance, forming a timbre tone that combines energy and delicacy.

This cable is not just a wire connecting sounds, but a tuning project tailored to the sound temperament. It builds a more dynamic and complete sound stage for Nautic Stellar.

The acoustic framework of Nautic Stellar centers on “precise division of labor and seamless integration.” Through the luxurious configuration of 8 units and 5-way crossover and the application of breakthrough technologies, it builds a high-end acoustic system that balances resolution, naturalness, and atmosphere. From the agile low frequencies delivered by the 10mm silk bio-diaphragm dynamic unit, to the relaxed mid frequencies and full mid-high frequencies presented by the two sets of 4 balanced armature units, and then to the transparent super high frequencies extended by the 6mm nano planar unit—supplemented by the upgraded and tuned Sonion bone conduction unit to fill the gap in frequency band connection—each unit performs its role in coordination with the newly designed 5-way crossover circuit. This “multi-unit characteristic complementation + precise frequency control by crossover” architecture not only gives full play to the inherent advantages of different diaphragm materials (such as the natural warmth of silk, the detail resolution of balanced armatures, and the high-frequency extension of planar diaphragms) but also eliminates the frequency band gap of traditional multi-unit architectures through the clever integration of bone conduction technology. Finally, it achieves full-frequency balance with high fidelity and low distortion, allowing the sound to strike a delicate balance between power and delicacy, clarity and warmth, and bringing listeners an immersive music experience that combines technical precision and emotional warmth.
